Melinda Hutchings
Melinda Hutchings is passionate about the written word and has touched lives through her work: her books Fighting for Life; Anorexia the Road to Recovery (Hale & Iremonger 2000) and How to Recover from Anorexia and Other Eating Disorders (Hale & Iremonger 2001) have helped thousands of people understand the dynamics of eating disorders from onset through to the recovery process.
Melinda is a contributing author to Some Girls Do, an anthology of prominent Australian female authors (Allen & Unwin 2007) and What is Mother Love? (Penguin Group Australia 2008).
Her third book Why Can't I Look the Way I Want? will be published by Allen & Unwin in June and her fourth book Why Won't Anyone Listen? will be published by Allen & Unwin in 2010.
Melinda is an Ambassador for The Butterfly Foundation and is featured on the Wall of Women for the Bellaboo 'Get Real About Role Models' campaign. She is a media spokesperson and an experienced public speaker, and has presented at many forums throughout Australia including the annual Youth Forum at Sydney Town Hall which is attended by 500 high school students.
Melinda has been profiled in several mainstream magazines including Who Magazine and Woman's Day, metropolitan press & radio and various television programs including Sunrise, Mornings with Kerrie-Anne, A Current Affair and Sky Health News.
Melinda completed a Diploma of Professional Writing from the Australian College of Journalism and has been published in mainstream magazines and two short story anthologies as well as winning two first place awards for her short stories.
She is represented by Selwa Anthony Author Management Agency and is a member of the NSW Writers' Centre and the Australian Society of Authors.
