Sandy Fussell's School Handout Tips
Sandy Fussell
Sandy Fussell, author of the CBCA-shortlisted POLAR BOY and the popular SAMURAI KIDS series, is well-organised when it comes to promotion and school visits.
Here are two ideas from Sandy that might help you plan what to take to schools and/or author talks.
Sandy says: "Here, you can see exactly what I include in the Classroom Booklet (which I leave after school visits) and the Introduction/Ideas Envelope (which I give to kids at literary lunches etc). I also give every child at a school visit an origami samurai helmet like the one in the centre of the image on the envelope page. (A team of friends can make hundreds of them!!!)"
1. Introduction Envelope
When I am invited to a literary luncheon and am allocated a table of children, I take a promo envelope as an 'icebreaker' and to ensure every kid takes something home. Without fail they immediately get out a pen and start doing the word search or try the origami!
